#35: What Document to Carry in USA - Photo ID, Alien Registration Card

My name is Saikiran, I have this one question which I didn’t think was important for the F1 Visa group, but it’s to me. One of my colleagues was asking me today what ID do I have if police stops me and asks for one. My OPT expired last week and I don’t have a license nor a state ID. All I have is expired ead, a temp license and my passport which I don’t carry. I have applied for my OPT EXTENSION about 45 days ago and received the receipt. I know I should have known better, it’s just that I never thought why I would get stopped. I take Uber everyday to work and didn’t think it was important. I don’t know if you have time to see this, but any help would be so appreciated. The reason I really want to know this is, my colleague kind of questioned my lawful stay here.
